Ah, the U.S. General Election is less than 33 days away, SNL just did an amazing spoof on the presidential debate, the Veeps went at it last night, part of Donald’s tax return from back in the day was released, and the presidential candidates go for round 2 in 4 days: what a time to be an American. I need playlists for this occasion…Wait a minute..
As I think about all the facts and opinions we are bombarded with on a daily basis concerning #ImWithHer and #TeamTrump, I can’t help but think about a huge missing piece in this barrage of information…
THE CANDIDATE’S PLAYLIST!
Alright, hear me out. President Obama and his family (God bless the Obamas) changed the way the office of the president interacted with pop culture. Whether it’s slow-jamming the news on Jimmy Fallon; Ms. Michelle Obama killing it on the dance floor on Ellen; or Malia showing off dance moves at Lollapalooza (Gurl, get ya groove on, forget the haters!), the First Family have pushed pop culture to sort of embrace politics…
Music critics and music lovers around the nation lauded the President’s Summer 2016 playlist. I mean, the vibe was incredible. I could imagine the President walking out of Air Force One to the tune of “Classic Man” (one of my favorite songs) and dance with Michelle after dessert to “Rocksteady.” Say what you will, but our President has a great taste in music. Which for me, a great taste in music is an essential factor for a great leader and person.
Why Candidates should Release their Fire Playlists
SO, besides having a sound foreign policy and economic plan, whoever becomes the next Commander in Chief should also have a “lit” musical selection. As a Celebritician (celebrity and politician… I’m so corny) I think it’s a nice change of pace. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure if presidents have to be careful what breads they eat and what material their suits are made out of, there may be more to the story on how a president picks out which music they endorse publicly… But I digress
I poked around and found that both Clinton and Trump have some type of playlist on Spotify. I’m not sure if they are official official, but it’s official enough for me. As the Diplomatic DJ, I’m going to take on the responsibility of reviewing those playlists for y’alll!
Of course these playlists aren’t suppose to sway your decision (unless you swing like that). But it’s a lighter subject than discussing whose tax policy will help the middle class more. I’m pretty sure if presidents have to be careful what breads they use and what material their suits are made out of, there may be more to how a president picks out which music they endorse publicly… But I digress
THE REVIEW: Another Clinton vs. Trump:
This won’t be a written “oh I like this song” type of review. Oh no. I’m going to give you that first reaction, that unadulterated, for real PHILosophical VIDEO review. Ah yeah! ARE YOU HYPE CAUSE I AM!
