Wow man. It’s been a month and some change since the Diplomatic DJ dropped a post. I’ll explain part of the reason but before I do that, I’m going to tell y’all a story.
The other day I came across this quote that got me thinking:
“It only takes one move for ‘impossible’ to become ‘I’m possible.’”
At first I was like “wow, that’s so true, I gotta tell…” and then my mind started to wonder. Let me preface that I’m a very optimistic person. Over the years I’ve developed a great balance between being an optimist and being a realist. Unfortunately 2016 has tainted my optimism, but that’s besides the point.
The point is, while that quote was empowering, technically that quote isn’t true. In order to make “Impossible” “I’m possible,” you need two moves. I mean you could have “Im possible,” but that would be incorrect. *side smirk*
Luckily, I pride myself on finding the silver lining in most situations.
One move makes the quote almost correct. Two moves make the phrase perfect.
All it takes is one move to make the impossible, possible. While it may not be the perfect move, it’s a step in the right direction. If you don’t move then it’s going to stay impossible. Would you rather spend time focusing on that or focusing on a way to make that move.
That move doesn’t have to be the “right move” either! Just like it takes two moves to get Impossible → I’m possible, whatever project/ adventure/ life goal you are working on will take multiple tries before you get it right!
Here’s a real life example. Right now, as you know, I took a “break” from the Diplomatic DJ. Believe me, I thought about it every day but I allowed other things to get in the way. I got frustrated because it wasn’t perfect yet. The task of achieving a level on par to my favorite bloggers and business owners seemed impossible. But I forgot that the first step…was to make the first step, which I did! And once you make that step, take another, and another. As long as you make that move, you move closer to that “I’m possible,” and away from the “impossible.” WOW.
(Shout out DJ Khaled btw. His book provided a dope vibe for my life right now.)
I hope this encourages you as much as these thoughts encouraged me. Let me know what you think in the comments below! I wanted to share this tidbit with y’all. Bless up.
